Matt’s background is in farming, working sun-up to sundown during planting and harvesting season with a clear goal in mind. His father and his uncles spent their summers working on road crews for his grandfather, who was VP at Northern Improvement Company. With construction and farming in his blood, Matt developed an early love for a hard day’s work and the sense of accomplishment it brings.
He followed his passion for construction by enrolling at North Dakota State University in the civil engineering department, but quickly switched to Construction Management when he saw that it would better satisfy his love for being out in the field. He graduated with a degree in Construction Management and a minor in Business Administration.
In addition to the joy of seeing a vision come together, Matt appreciates working as a team. “My goal on every jobsite is to be an asset to the whole project,” he says. Matt loves translating plans into reality based on everyone’s input and skill set, making sure each person on the job understands their tasks and how they fit into the bigger scope.
In addition to a childhood playing on heavy farm equipment, Matt’s made hunting more than just a hobby. His true passion is waterfowl hunting, and he chases the migration all over the US and Canada in the fall and spring. When hunting season is over, he enjoys walleye fishing and spending time with friends and family.
