Wadsworth Brothers Construction has contracted KLE to collaborate on The Billings Bypass Project, a multiphase project that will cross the Yellowstone River and connect the Johnson Lane Interchange in Lockwood, Montana, to Highway 312/Highway 87 in Billings. An additional segment will also connect 5 Mile Road with Highway 312.
Led by the Montana Department and the Federal Highway Administration, Yellowstone County, and the City of Billings, KLE will be working on this multi-phased, new construction project consisting of an arterial roadway and steel bridge structure.
The new, 9-span, 1,858’ steel and concrete bridge structure over the Yellowstone River will be the project’s culminating installment. The bridge will feature two vehicle lanes in each direction and a 10-foot multi-use path on the bridge’s west side.
In addition to all of the grading, KLE will perform all gravel, stormwater collection, plant mix bituminous surfacing, a roundabout intersection, and the pedestrian tunnel for the project.
KLE began construction in the fall of 2020 and is planning for a two-year duration of the project.
